At Oborne Contracting Inc., health and safety is a fundamental part of how we plan, manage, and deliver every project. In Ontario, the Constructor is the party with overall responsibility for coordinating health and safety on a construction project and for ensuring that the measures and procedures required under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulation for Construction Projects are carried out. The Constructor is also responsible for ensuring that employers, supervisors, workers, and trades on the project comply with applicable health and safety requirements.
When Oborne Contracting Inc. assumes the role of Constructor, we take that responsibility seriously. Our workers are required to complete mandatory workplace health and safety awareness training, WHMIS training, and, where applicable, approved Working at Heights training. Our managerial staff, Project Managers, and site leads are also required to maintain CPR, AED, and First Aid training as part of our commitment to jobsite preparedness and worker protection.
To support a strong safety culture, Oborne Contracting Inc. has implemented dedicated occupational health and safety oversight within our organization. This includes regular site reviews, ongoing hazard identification, weekly toolbox talks, safety signage and equipment checks, incident reporting and investigation procedures, and active support for safe return-to-work practices where required. We believe that safety is not simply a legal obligation, but an essential part of responsible project leadership.
Ontario requires a Notice of Project to be filed with the Ministry in prescribed circumstances, including where a project exceeds $50,000 or where certain excavation or structural conditions apply. As a matter of company policy and good practice, Oborne Contracting Inc. applies for a Notice of Project with the Ministry on our projects regardless of job size, as part of our proactive approach to compliance, documentation, and site safety leadership.
